Bite Me

Here's my favorite story so far of the girls, and that is saying a lot..... given the hundreds of stories lying in the past undocumented.  This one sums up where we are in the Battle of the Wills between Ashlee and Holly.

Nanna (a.k.a. Lois Hembree) had the girls at her house one afternoon a month or two ago while Mom - that would be me - did something useful with all that "spare time" (like shower... right Jeri?! :)  Anyway, Nanna gets really tickled when she tells a story of something funny especially about the girls (insert story of Ashlee first being potty trained when she preferred to say bye-bye to her poo in the potty by referring to what was IN it, such as "bye-bye corn!" or "bye-bye-raisins!"  - took Nanna 20 minutes to get through that one). 

But I digress.  This one took a little longer to get through, and I am very proud to report it here:

Ashlee and Holly were sitting together at the piano that's been in our family for generations.  Usually they play together quite nicely at the piano, but Ashlee must have done something in particular to tick off Holly as they sat shoulder to shoulder on the piano bench and Holly bit Ashlee on the arm.  Ashlee, as you know from a previous post, is prone to hysterics and ran screaming to Nanna about the pain, and Holly - knowing she is NOT supposed to bite - ran and hid in Nanna's bathroom.

After comforting Ashlee for the horror of being upper-handed by a 2 year old, regardless of illegal method, Nanna goes and finds Holly hidden in the bathroom.  She says "Holly!  You KNOW you are not supposed to bite! You HURT Ashlee and you have to come now and say you are sorry."  Holly looks at Nanna for a minute with her increasingly infamous Stink-Eye and says ..... "NO" very calmly.  Nanna says "well then, I guess I'm going to have to bite you!"  Holly immediately recognizes that as a bad plan and says in a teary voice, "No, No, Nanna!"  to which she replies "OK then, let's go say sorry to Ashlee."

Holly thinks about this for a minute, Nanna swears there was about 20 seconds of silence....... after which Holly said:  "BITE ME!"

And that is how apologies currently roll up in this house.
